So, it is not so odd to find a piano in this place, considering that the couple who live here are both musicians (albeit, mostly with the stringed instruments, as one can glimpse in the corner). I often stay here when I am in the Bay Area, and I have never been so thankful for having an iPad as these instances, when I have basically 24/7 access to a piano and my entire music collection with me. I had actually intended to put another video before this, as I had the (all too rare!) chance to play on MY OWN PIANO up in Washington (I've played in airports more often than on my poor Charles Walter at this point). But I couldn't resist putting this up now, particularly as it is a brand new song I learned - since all of yesterday. The husband, who's a huge classical music aficionado, suggested I take a look at Erik Satie. As soon as he played a YouTube video of the Gnossienne No. 1, I was hooked, and downloaded the sheet music an hour later. I sight-read it last night and practiced it this morning - the piece is eerie and captivating, but incredibly simple with its multiple repeating sections, so I was equally delighted by the immediate satisfaction!
